WHAT THE GUNNERS CAN DO

They were conquering the world like a pack of wolves hungry for glory. They kept on winning as if Nike (goddess of Victory) settled in their backyard. There was no one who could confront them. Even the mightiest of the European Giants could not even dream of challenging them.  So marched the mighty Catalans defeating ruthlessly, each and everyone who came in their way ….until one day they faced a bunch of zealous young men who had the right spirit and the mental strength to fight back which made the Catalans to stop and think. They fought till the end and sent them back to their country making them and the world realize the truth.

Know the legends--->Born in this month

Fritz Walter- Oct 31st 1920:
Fritz Walter was a German footballer and captain who won the world cup for his team. He is renowned as a player whose gameplay and work rate gets better as the weather conditions gets worse and so now the term "Fritz Walter's weather conditions" is used to denote bad whether conditions. In 1956 he scored a spectacular goal in East Germany for his only club FC Kaiserslautern in Leipzig against Wismut Aue, when he hit the ball with his back heels while diving forward.

Walter debuted his national team in 1940 but he was called into the armed forces in 1942 during the world-war. By the end of the war he was taken as a war prisoner and there in the war camp e played with the Hungarian and Slovakian guards. When the Soviets arrived they took all the war prisoners with them where the life expectancy was at-most 5 years. But the Hungarian guards who had earlier seen Fritz playing for the German national team saved his life by telling that he was not a German but an Austrian.

Fritz Walter returned home and took up the charges as the captain of the German National team which won their first world cup in 1954. Ironically, given the intervention of Hungarian guards during the war the final match was against Hungary. Fritz Walter and brother Ottmar Walter became the first brothers to win the World Cup. He ended his career after suffering a serious injury in 1959.

In 1956 after the crackdown of the soviets by the Hungarian uprising the team were caught away from home for two years and Fritz provided the financial support to them and paid them back for saving his life.

The home stadium of FC Kaiserlautern was named after him and is called the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Here is a Video which shows some moments of Fritz Walter------>>>
