Road to Glory

SAFF
The first match for the Indians was against Afghanistan. It was a poor start for the hosts as India dropped 2 points in a 1-1 draw, thanks for Sunil Chetri's header from a corner taken y Steven Dias. India dominated the second half completely getting many shots on target but could not get the winner.

The second match was against who already lost their first match 3-0 against Sri-Lanka. This fixture turned out to be a perfect fixture for the Bhangra Boys. India dominated in every aspect right from the start whistle till the end.
The men in blue scored 5 perfect goals. The hero of the day was Sunil Chetri again who scored 2 goals and assisted thrice. Clifford Miranda (mid-fielder) scored 2 goals and Syed Rahim Nabi (Defender) scored one goal.

The third match was against Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan defense was a bit stronger than that of Bhutan's. So India could not find their free flowing game which they had with Bhutan. But Sunil Chetri's magic Syed Rahim Nabi's and Clifford Miranda's presence provided the men in blue a comfortable 3-0 victory which booked India's place in the semi-finals.

The Semi-Finals was against old rivals Maldives. India had a good start by Jeje's shot which almost took India into lead in the very first minute. JEJE kept on threating the Maldives's defense and finally India found the net with a beautiful goal by the fullack Syed Rahim Nabi. Maldives were back in the match by a 50th minute stunner Akram adul Ali. But just 10 minutes later Maldives conceded a penalty when they fouled SUnil Chetri in the box who clinically converted into a goal y placing it into the bottom right corner. Chetri scored another goal during injury time with a lightening speed counter attack y JEJE and Sunil Chetri. India went on to play finals against Afghanistan on 11th December.
